The Shallow Family of Methow Valley Lavender
The Donoghue Shallow Family

The Methow Valley is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, nature lovers, and those seeking a peaceful and scenic retreat.

It is our honor to enrich the Valley’s immense beauty with the sensory experience ofΒ  aromatic lavender.

With a sweet, decades-long history of lavender farming that started with our Grandmother, we are honored to bring you Methow Valley Lavender.

We wish you lovely lavender moments.

The business of life is something we all get wrapped up in. You’re going and going, and before you know it, you’re tucked into bed (too late) and thinking about getting up and doing it all again.

You might wonder, β€œDid I make time for myself today?” or β€œWhy do I feel so disconnected?”

At Methow Valley Lavender (MVL), we believe that serenity is within reach when we ground ourselves in our senses. The best part? That only takes a moment! That’s precisely why we craft each product with love and intention.

See a beautifully packaged lavender oil adorning your countertop. Feel the rich lotion on your body. Smell the sun-drenched lavender fields. Taste the lavender cocktail on your lips. With a lavender breeze, listen to life’s melodies β€” birds, the breeze, the rain, or your favorite song.

Our products are crafted to give you a cherished experience, through beautiful moments. #LavenderMoments

What We’ve Been Doing
πŸŒ¬οΈπŸ’¦ This week has had its adventures! This morning the wind twirled a section of weed barrier fabric into a tangled mess. As we tried to straighten it out we were nearly taken on a magic carpet ride. Also, our water decided to take a break just when we needed it most.

🌟 Huge shoutout to O’Connell Drilling & Supply in Brewster for coming to our rescue. Your quick response and expert service saved the day. Not all heroes wear capes; some come with drilling rigs and a can-do attitude. Thank you to Luis and Cesar!

It takes a whole family and then some to pull off a farm startup. The jobs are dusty and dirty or many hours long behind a computer strategizing the latest digital marketing ads.

Logan is mastermind behind our marketing campaigns, he’s our tractor driver, weed barrier layer, irrigation fixer and whatever else needs doing. He has a degree and neuroscience, his own entrepreneurial ambitions and he’s our cherished son. πŸ’œ

We are pretty darn blessed to have Logan, and we appreciate everything he does for MVL.

Lavandula angustifolia Royal Velvet is a particularly stunning cultivar, commonly known as English Lavender or true lavender.

Royal Velvet boasts striking deep purple-blue flower spikes that are very fragrant. Its foliage is narrow and gray-green in color, providing a beautiful contrast to the blooms.

Its size makes it perfect for adding to landscaping, growing to 18-24 inches tall and wide.

Royal Velvet looks lovely in bouquets. It’s harvested for culinary purposes and adds a subtle (when used sparingly) distinctive flavor to savory dishes, desserts, beverages and baked goods.

The essential oil extracted from its buds are used in aromatherapy for its calming and stress-relieving effects.

It needs well draining soil, 6-8 hours of sunlight, it’s drought tolerant, and hardy in zones 5-9.

This is our 3rd year of adding Royal Velvet to the crop. We love it!πŸͺ»πŸ’œ
