Have you tried a London Fog, a tea latte? How about a Lavender London Fog? I have to give credit to our niece Jordan for this recipe. A regular connoisseur of the popular tea drink, she made it with the Lavender Simple Syrup she received for Christmas and shared the results with us.
I cannot adequately express with words how good this is. It’s a comforting little pick-me-up in the afternoon, like a cozy sweater, or a warm hug on a cold winter’s day. The hint of lavender adds a touch of floral sweetness.
Cozy goodness in a cup.
The recipe calls for Earl Grey Tea. I’m sure any brand will do, but I’ve been watching The Crown on Netflix lately, so when I spotted a tin of Twinings of London that reads “By Appointment of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II” it seemed only fitting.
Lavender London Fog
Make it hot to warm up in these cold winter months, and iced to cool off in the summer.
Ingredients
2 teaspoons of Earl Grey loose-leaf tea
1 cup boiling water
½ teaspoon Methow Valley Lavender Culinary Bud, plus a little more for garnish
½ cup milk of your choice
1 tablespoon Methow Valley Lavender Simple Syrup
Directions
- Place tea and lavender bud into an infuser, and brew tea according to package directions. I used a teapot with a built-in loose-leaf tea infuser and a warmer like this one, (here).
- While the tea is steeping, add the Lavender Simple Syrup to your mug.
- Froth the milk. I use a ‘faux’ frothing tool, like this, (here).
- When the tea is done brewing, pour it in the mug, followed by the frothed milk.
- Garnish with Culinary Lavender Bud (optional).
Double or triple the recipe to enjoy with friends.
