Lavender Infused Gin

There’s nothing like a good Gin & Tonic to refresh, relax after a long week, or celebrate a special occasion. I was first intrigued by the idea of adding lavender to gin when I discovered a beautiful, lavender-colored Gin made by a famous hotel. Sadly, it turns out that this gin doesn’t actually have lavender in it. So, I started researching and found a lavender farm in Washington making Lavender Gin, and let me tell you, it is delicious. It’s also hard to find.
I dream of one day producing our own take on Lavender Gin at our farm, but for now, I have played around with a homemade DIY version. Last Christmas, I gave it away as gifts. A family member enjoyed it so much that she ordered her own culinary lavender bud and has been making it herself. She’s experimented with vodka, too.
It’s super simple — here’s the recipe. Oh, and if you’re looking for lavender-colored Gin, I highly recommend Empress 1908 Indigo Gin. The color is striking!
Ingredients
- 16 oz. Gin
- 2½ Tbsp. Culinary Lavender Bud
Directions
Pour your favorite Gin into a mason jar and add culinary lavender. Seal the jar and give it a little shake. Place the jar in a dark, cool place for 24 hours, shaking the jar several times throughout.
I recommend making this in small batches to get just the right amount of floral sweetness.
Enjoy with your tonic water, lemon, and a sprig of lavender, or mix it with your favorite cocktail.
Cheers,
